| Canada’s Niagara Peninsula is Ontario’s foremost viticulture region located in the immediate vicinity of the world wonder, the Niagara Falls. Two distinctive aspects of the Niagara region are a blessing to winemakers. Nearby Lake Ontario has a moderating influence on the microclimate. The Niagara Escarpment, over which the famous Niagara Falls flows, creates a further moderating of climate and also supports the area’s soils with mineral rich deposits of glacial till left behind by receding glaciers some 13,000 years ago.
Like Burgundy, Germany, Oregon and New Zealand, Niagara is a classic cool climate viticulture region, ideally suited for the growing of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling as well as, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Icewine. Inniskillin focuses on these core varietals that grow well in the region. Perfectly crafted under the cool climate conditions the Niagara Peninsula affords, Inniskillin’s Niagara wines have distinctive elegance and finesse.

The outstanding wines are released either as single vineyard wines or blended with other vineyards. The Winemaker’s Series showcases Nicholson’s focus on terroir.
